ABOUT

Originally a performer, I have been a professional voice coach in contemporary styles for the past 18 years and have over 28 years experience in music and performing.

I graduated from The Arts Educational School in London and then having had considerable success as a professional performer decided to broaden my career path and in 2001 travelled to L.A., California to train as a vocal coach. I trained as a teacher of voice under the tutelage of world-renowned vocal teachers including Seth Riggs tutor to Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Dave Stroud working with Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, One Direction and Justin Bieber

I have worked with Pink Floyd, Amy Winehouse, Alex Clare, Lawson and Boyzone. As well as having extensive studio experience I have been regularly called upon to coach artists signed by Universal, Polydor and Sony records for tour preperation and studio coaching.

I have trained professional performers for many West End musicals including: Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You, Kinky Boots and The Lion King and currently working with children who are starring in Matilda, Les Miserables, School of Rock and The Lion King.

Personal note from Lucy

'I was initially trained classically, and although some may say that is a good basis, it was unable to help me sing any contemporary style. My initial training had created a sound that only suited classical and opera singing and I felt that I did not know my own voice. I went to many singing teachers who told me that was just the way I sang and unfortunately would probably never successfully sing ‘pop’ or modern musical theatre, I was unconvinced! I started studying the voice, the physiology and audio physics in order to understand how my singing voice functioned, as well as studying with some world class contemporary teachers.

Eventually, I totally transformed my voice, and now understand and can sing all contemporary styles with a tone and range that is completely suited to the genre. I believe that the research and understanding that I have of the singing voice as well as my own personal struggle and journey has given me a great experience which I bring to my teaching. I understand what it feels like to be frustrated with the sound of your voice, to be unable to hit the high notes clearly and strongly and without strain, to have no confidence in your vocal performance, I’ve been there and been through it …… But, now I can help you fix it!!!!!!
